THE TASTE
While most lagers give away most of their taste profile in the front of the mouth, Pilsner Urquell only hints at its flavour there. Instead, it develops in the middle, followed by a refreshing, clean finish and balanced aftertaste, practically inviting you to have another.
THE FIRST SIP
Earthy, fresh bread aroma with hints of hops and honeysuckle.
THE MAIN EVENT
Subtle malty sweetness with caramel tones from our open-flame triple decoction.
CLOSING MOMENTS
Pleasing bitterness from the Czech Saaz hops.
NUANCES OF POURS
Different pours give different experiences. The Czech classic Hladinka is a smooth, creamy serve, Na dvakrat has a crisp body topped with a thick foam and finally the Mliko is presented as virtually pure foam giving the most aromatic and sweet of serves.

Welcome to Plzensky Prazdroj , Pilsner Urquell’s historic brewery!
The distinctive gateway to Plzensky Prazdroj, Pilsner Urquell’s historic brewery are neo-renaissance double-arched gates, built in 1892 to mark 50 years since the first batch of Pilsner beer filled the air of the Burgher’s Brewery on 5th October 1842. Our water tower was built in 1907 and its design is reminiscent of a traditional Dutch lighthouse.
Row upon row of beer casks line the lagering caves beneath the Pilsner Urquell brewery. The sandstone cellars of Pilsner Urquell form a labyrinth of passageways, vaults and wells built below Pilsen as early as the 14th Century.
