Anchor Brewing Fog Breaker IPA – A bright, refreshing and (mostly) haze-free San Francisco IPA.
San Francisco has a lot of amazing things going for it. The Bay. The Hills. The Culture. But the weather? Well, that’s another story. More days than not, the city is engulfed with a rolling fog that’s become so familiar here among residents that we’ve even given it a name—Karl. And, while we’ll always have a soft spot for Karl, we’re pretty stoked that our brewery sits at the base of Potrero Hill, one of the sunniest spots here in San Francisco.
Inspired by our fog-busting location
Inspired by our fog-busting location, we’re bottling up this sunshiny brightness in our Fog Breaker IPA. Bursting with fresh pine and juicy tropical hops, this beer is a crisp, refreshing and (mostly) haze-free take on a San Francisco IPA.
Anchor Brewing Fog Breaker IPA, with its distinctly fruity aroma and assertively bitter taste, is a hoppy, yet crisp and refreshing addition to Anchor’s portfolio. Its intense aromas of ripe pineapple, melons and resinous pine are derived from essential oils in Citra Cryo hops as well as whole-cone Denali and Cascade hops. Brewed with malted wheat and 2-row pale malt, the IPA’s bitterness is slightly countered with hints of light biscuity malt flavors and a smooth effervescent mouthfeel. The sunny inspiration behind Fog Breaker IPA is evident in its appearance—a bright, golden straw-colored body with a lasting creamy head. It’s a thirst-quenching, fresh brew that puts a San Francisco spin on an American IPA.

A TIME-HONORED BREWING TRADITION
Anchor is America’s first and oldest craft brewery, with roots dating back to the California gold rush. Today, our beers are handmade from an all-malt mash in our traditional copper brewhouse. Our process combines the time-honored art of classical craft brewing with carefully applied, state-of-the-art modern methods.
THE HEART AND SOUL OF ANCHOR
Every drop of Anchor beer is made right here in our traditional copper brewhouse. Decades-old handmade tools of the trade — mash tun, lauter tun, grant, and brewkettle — are literally at the heart of our historic American brewery, surrounded by our offices, quality-control lab, and taproom. It is a constant reminder of the brewcraft at the core of who we are.
MODERN TECHNIQUES FOR AN ANCIENT CRAFT
In the 1960s, Anchor was perhaps the most primitive small craft brewery in the world. By 1971 the year we began bottling Anchor Steam beer we had perhaps the most modern small brewery in the world, with state-of-the-art quality control systems in place to ensure that our beers are always pure and fresh, from brewing, through finishing, packaging and transporting. We know of no brewery in the world that matches our efforts to combine traditional, natural brewing with such carefully applied, modern methods.
